First, a note about this website...
The website that is hosting this page that you are viewing is a work-in-progress for a significant redesign for the Buckeye Districts' website using all new technology. AS SUCH, if you wander off this page, you might see old and/or out-of-date information and you will certainly see stuff that might not exist in it's current form or at all, in the final website. This website was just used to host the Boundaries Report and survey because of it's ability to be quickly set up.
COUNCIL BOUNDARIES COMMITTEE
As part of the Council Executive Boards 2008 Key Initiatives, a committee was formed to analyze the current council and district boundaries of the council to ensure that the council and districts were serving the youth of their areas as optimally as possible.
The committee followed the following steps:
Analyze the current districts—We determined what constitutes a district including geography (drive time and access issues), membership and district health including committee size and activity participation.
Meetings with District Committee—The committee met with most district committees to review the purpose of the project and hold open discussions with them regarding their districts layout, challenges and participation.
Meetings with Professional Staff—The committee met with the professional staff on multiple occasions to discuss their needs and challenges.
We then studied the current organization with consideration of the following questions:
- Attendance at district and council activities
- Geography. Are driving distance/boundaries affecting district participation?
- School district boundaries
- Growth potential and density
- History
The documents below present the data the committee has gathered as well as several possible changes to be considered. Each proposal provides pros and cons. The committee is to provide an update to the Council Executive Board for approval on April 23rd.
You are encouraged to provide feedback on this proposal, either in person or on-line. After reviewing the proposal, please attend one of the following public presentations. At these presentations, the proposal will be reviewed and questions will be taken. You feedback will be recorded, consolidated and presented to the Council Executive Board for their consideration on April 23rd.

Update 04/21/2009
Now that all the public meetings have been completed, the committee is digesting the great feedback we have received. Watch this space for an update soon.
Update 04/22/2009
The Boundaries Committee met to consider all the feedback received. We are changing the Red proposal as follows, based on the feedback:
- Add Madison Plains Schools to New District A. This was in response to feedback that that district is tightly linked with London City Schools.
- Move Teays Valley, Circleville City and Logan Elm Schools to New District B (From Chief Tarhe).
- Adjust the western border between Capitol and New District B farther to the east.
- Move Hamilton Local Schools from Tri-Creek to New District B.
New maps and charts are being prepared this morning. Check back later today.
The revised proposal will be presented to the Executive Board on Thursday April 23rd. They may move for a vote on the proposal, depending on the discussion. If you have information you want heard, you are encouraged to contact your DD or DE so they can connect you with either a board member or your district chairman, who has a vote at the meeting.
Thank you for your input and time to help us ALL improve our councils ability to serve our youth.
