Transfers

How to handle Registration Transfers:

Arrow of Light/Webelos to Boy Scouts - Parent completes a Boy Scout Application including signature of parent and Scoutmaster. $1.00 fee per youth is required. Be sure to include a copy of the current membership certificate or the Cub Scout Pack’s unit number in the block on the application referring to transfers.

Youth to Adult Transfer – A youth who turns 18 years old during the charter year must complete an adult application in its entirety; obtain the signatures of the Committee Chairman and Charter Representative / Institutional Officer. A fee of $1.00 is required to transfer from a youth member to Assistant Scoutmaster in the same troop or into another unit.

NOTE: If a youth is also registered in a Venture Crew or Sea Scout Ship, they will be paying 2 registrations. An Adult registration for the troop and a Youth registration for the Crew/Ship. Once they turn 21 and are listed on the Crew/Ship charter as an adult, then they can be a multiple in one of the 2 units.

Youth or adult -Unit to Unit Transfer – any time you want to move your registration from one unit to another there is a charge of $1.00. A competed application must be turned in after it has the appropriate signatures. Be sure to include a copy of the current membership certificate or unit number in the block on the application referring to transfers.

Out of Council Transfer – If a youth / adult from another council whishes to transfer into your unit they must provide a copy of their current membership certificate or the city and council number/name, type of unit, and the unit number for the council they are leaving. We must have this information to verify their current registration. A completed application with appropriate signatures is also required. The “Transfer Form” No. 28-401Q is for recordkeeping only and may not be used to actually transfer a youth or adult.

What to do if you thought a youth had transferred to your unit LAST year but was not recorded! You will need to provide a completed application and a separate check made out to the local council for the length of registration time that is missing. The fees and application will then be sent to the National BSA office to purchase back registration time. This is important because he can not have earned ranks or merit badges if he is not formally registered. The system may allow us to enter them in the computer but a red flag may appear when the Eagle application is checked at the local or national level. It is suggested that the Committee Chair OR Unit Leader request a Roster for your unit each spring after the transfers have taken place; this will insure no one is missed!
